About Newby Hall
Founded around the turn of the century, the club established its cricket square in the 1920s under Major E.R.F. Compton. By the 1930s, it had twice won the Ripon Knock-out Competition. After facing post-war challenges and a slump in the 1960s, the 1970s saw a resurgence, marked by the construction of a new pavilion and joining the Nidderdale League in 1976, despite fluctuating league performances and notable matches.
Entering the new millennium, the club overcame challenges such as the Foot and Mouth disease in 2001 and achieved remarkable successes, including winning three separate divisions in 2006. Growth led to the creation of a Third XI and a new pitch in 2007, with the First XI becoming the Nidderdale League Division 1 Champions by 2008, highlighting the club's enduring spirit and growth.
