We’re delighted to announce our first new signing of the year – Steve Ingall Tombs is returning to the club after a game of approximately 15 years.
Steve played at Newby Hall during his early teenage years before moving away from the area for University and work. He’s returning to Yorkshire with his job and got in contact, making it known that there is nowhere in Yorkshire he’d rather want to play.
In recent years Steve has been playing cricket in South Wales, for Ponthir Cricket Club’s First XI, in the South East Wales Cricket League – featuring mainly as an opening bowler and mid-order batsman. As well as playing Steve played an active role in club life in South Wales, making him an ideal first signing of the year for Newby Hall.
First XI captain Aaron Virr is delighted by the new signing –
“Everyone says that Steve was one of, if not the most talented, young players that we ever had at the club. He’ll make a huge difference to our side next year with both bat and ball – and from what I’ve heard will bring some real energy into the side. I’m delighted that he’s onboard, and look forward to welcoming more signings over the next few weeks”.
